MAEER'S Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) is a leading private institute of engineering located in Pune. The college was established in 1983 and affiliated to the University of Pune and recognized by the Government of Maharashtra. MIT Pune is recognized by UGC and approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. MIT Pune has now been renamed as MIT-WPU (MIT World Peace University) The college has been recognized as a leading engineering college by well-known surveys and rating agencies. According to the survey of news magazine 'Outlook', MIT Pune has ranked 1st in Maharashtra & 11th in India amongst the finest private engineering colleges. As per the recent Times survey, MIT Pune is ranked 27th among all Indian engineering institutes including IITs, 8th in all private Indian engineering institutes and 7th in western India. MIT, Pune offers four-year degree courses in various branches of engineering and postgraduate courses in various specializations. All MIT engineering courses are NBA accredited and are committed to getting NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and ABET accreditation soon. The vision of the college is to transform a young, enthusiastic student into a professionally competent engineer. Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune is well-known for its engineering courses in India. Recently MIT Pune Engineering has been renamed as MIT-WPU School of Engineering.

The college offers over 20 UG and PG programs in Engineering and Management. The college has various departments such as Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, Humanities, etc. These departments are responsible for the curriculum and research in the respective fields. The curriculum of the courses focuses on the value-based universal education system that promotes an environment for all-round development of its students. MIT Pune is one of the few institutes that offer Engineering courses in Polymers Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering.
